Job Title: IT Director
Reports To: Medical Director of IT/Innovation and Executive Team
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Multi-site (Primary office; travel to 3 clinic locations as needed)
Supervises: Tier 2 Network Engineer, Helpdesk Technicians, Application Specialist, Health Information Management (HIM) Personnel
Position Summary:
The IT Director is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision for information technology across the Medical Group’s three clinic locations, supporting approximately 115 employees. This role will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all IT operations, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient systems that support clinical and administrative needs. The IT Director ensures all onboarding and offboarding processes are standardized, systems are optimized, and technology resources are responsive, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Develop and implement IT strategy aligned with clinical and business operations.
- Lead department goal setting, tracking progress toward 100% system uptime during business hours.
- Define and document minimum IT requirements for clinic location qualification and job-role specific IT specifications.
2. Onboarding & Offboarding Process
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive, documented onboarding and offboarding process for all team members.
- Ensure timely deployment and deactivation of user access and hardware/software.
3. Technical Infrastructure & Network Oversight
- Maintain and monitor remote access systems and secure VPNs for authorized users.
- Create and enforce structure and templates for branch onboarding.
- Ensure lifecycle management of hardware, software, and infrastructure, including budget planning and replacement schedules.
- Manage disaster recovery planning and IT security/compliance audits.
4. Staffing, Supervision, and Team Structure
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate performance of Tier 2 Network Engineer, Helpdesk, Application Specialist, and HIM.
- Define and enforce appropriate utilization of Tier 2 resources.
- Monitor staff utilization and ensure technology responsiveness to support staff and clinical teams.
- Promote staff satisfaction through accessible and dependable tech support.
5. Support Services & Application Management
- Oversee helpdesk operations to ensure timely resolution of support requests.
- Supervise application specialist to ensure EMR/EHR, scheduling, kiosk, check-in (clinic vs. urgent care vs. lab), and other clinical applications are functioning optimally.
Skill Requirements:
- Proven experience setting and achieving IT operational goals across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain 100% uptime during clinic business hours.
- Strong understanding of remote access, clinic infrastructure, and IT onboarding procedures.
- Ability to build and maintain onboarding templates and IT specification matrices for each role and location.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and cybersecurity best practices in medical environments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Experience developing and managing department budgets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of IT leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Experience supervising technical teams, including helpdesk and network engineers.
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and healthcare applications. Experience with Eclinicalworks preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
