Why does the job exist?
This position will be responsible for creating and enhancing statistical reporting, and data analytics to support data-driven decision-making within the agency; it will lead the implementation and support of the business intelligence framework for Offender Management System along with developing improved reporting methods and data visualizations; and will be managing quarterly and annual performance measures with IT support and automation. Additionally, it will provide mentorship to IT report writers and data stewards, leveraging corrections-domain expertise.
How does it get done?
The job involves analyzing existing reports and statistics, collaborating with business owners to identify needs for new reports and analysis, and determining the optimal development approach to effectively visualize the data. The role will develop and manage the performance measures for the agency by understanding the agency's performance monitoring plan and measures, including the strategic goal, definition, the data source and methodology, data validity and data reliability for each agency program area and measure.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or related quantitative field. Three (3) years of relevant project experience in successfully executing data science projects, including statistical analysis, data engineering, and data visualization. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
