Job Summary
Linean builds specialized software for public companies and government agencies: think grants management, HIPAA claims systems that move real money, back office automation suites, and software tools that have a lot of humans depending on them working correctly.

We’re looking for a senior engineer who can own big chunks of these products alongside a hands-on founding team: shaping requirements with non-technical stakeholders, turning ambiguous rules into clean data models and workflows, and shipping reliable software on a modern cloud stack.

This is not a “ticket factory” role. You’ll be close to the problem, expected to think like a product engineer, and trusted with significant autonomy. We build AI-first, and expect you to not only build great software with us but also enhance our AI tooling and workflows to deliver solutions better, safer, and faster.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Linean leadership and customers to design, architect, implement, deploy, and operate custom software solutions across different cloud platforms
• Own products end-to-end, taking radical responsibility wherever possible and working closely with our engineering team when you need help
• Push the cutting edge on your own AI development workflows and help us to lay the foundation for a highly automated software development process
• Be a great human, both to our clients that we work hand-in-hand with and to your Linean teammates
• You'll work remotely for the most part, but you should be ready and able to join us for team meetings and face-to-face time with clients in Bakersfield as needed

Requirements

• You’ve been the primary or one of a few engineers responsible for a serious line-of-business app (internal tools, finance/compliance systems, workflow platforms, etc).
• You are comfortable working in a small team with a rapidly evolving structure
• You are already an expert at several parts of the full-stack software engineering process, and will aggressively learn and improve where you are still weak

A Quick Glance at your First Project

• Help us build and launch a HIPAA-compliant claims platform for a local education agency
• Build on Azure, SQL Server, Docker, Django, and React
• Use your favorite AI tools to improve the quality of your deliverables

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
