Technical Support Engineer II— Information Technology (Compotech Inc.)
Location: On-site (Brewer, ME)
Clearance: • U.S. Person required (ITAR/Export)

Travel: ~ Minimal between Brewer and Orono locations
Reports to: Information Technology and Networking Manager, Digital Solutions
Compotech’s Digital Solutions Team builds mission-grade software, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning solutions for national security and critical industries. We partner with DoD stakeholders to deliver operational outcomes fast.
Role Overview
Own the day-to-day operational troubles of Compotech users, systems and production-floor environments. Serve as a Tier II support specialist providing advanced troubleshooting and support for the production equipment, across endpoints, identity, networking, and Microsoft enterprise services. Participate in a on-call schedule to support manufacturing and mission-critical operation supporting our DoD partners.
What You’ll Do
- User Support: Act as an escalation point for complex hardware, software, network, and identity issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes.
- Production Floor & On call Support: Provide direct IT support for production-floor systems, equipment-connected workstations, and operational tooling. Respond to time-sensitive outages impacting manufacturing or mission critical delivery.
- System Administration: Manage Active Directory accounts, group policies, supporting GCC High hybrid environments, and endpoint management.
- Incident Management: Track, resolve, and document tickets in the ITSM system; escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors when necessary.
- Network Support: Troubleshoot VLANs, wireless, firewall issues and suggest areas for improvement.
- Security & Compliance: Support compliance-driven environments NIST 800-171, CMMC, DFARS, ISO controls.
- Deployment & Maintenance: Install, configure, and update hardware and software.
- Monitoring & Reliability: Support monitoring tools to ensure availability and performance of systems; perform proactive checks and maintenance.
- Documentation & Training: Develop and maintain IT knowledge base articles; train users on secure and effective use of IT systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with support staff, engineering, and operations teams to support specialized development and mission workloads.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend enhancements to IT processes, security, and tools for greater efficiency and resilience.
- Work on projects that have been recommended and prioritized for optimal success and company growth.
- Help teach Interns and set up the success of our next generation of information technologists.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of progressive IT support or systems administration experience
(or 3+ years with demonstrated Tier II responsibility)
- Proven experience acting as a Tier II / escalation point of contact.
- Strong independent troubleshooting across Windows 11, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365
- Ability to support production-critical environments with urgency and discipline
- Knowledge of endpoint protection, patch management, and security best practices.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and support multiple users and technologies.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to be on call during production times.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience supporting DoD or defense-industry IT environments, HIPAA, or other significant compliance.
- Exposure to CMMC, NIST 800-171 requirements.
- Familiarity with Azure Active Directory, Intune, and hybrid identity management with GCC High environments.

- Certifications: CompTIA Security+, Network+.
