POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Global IT Applications Director reports to the VP of IT, and is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and management of the company's global IT applications. This role ensures that IT applications are aligned with the business objectives, optimized for performance, and support efficient and effective operations across all regions. The Global Applications Director will lead a team of IT professionals, work closely with various business units, and liaise with external partners to ensure the successful deployment and continuous improvement of IT applications. The role requires around 30% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global Applications strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals.
  • Assess and recommend new applications and technologies to improve business processes and efficiency.
  • Stay updated with trends, technologies, and best practices in application management and development.
  • Establish Applications policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Project Management:

  • Oversee global Applications implementations and upgrade projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with regional teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment with local business needs.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts related to application development and services.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a global team of IT professionals, including project managers, developers, analysts, and support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the Applications team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior management, business unit leaders, and key stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into IT solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Operations, to understand their needs and ensure applications support their processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for IT Applications-related matters, ensuring clear communication and alignment between IT and business units.

System Management and Optimization:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of the global IT systems.
  • Oversee the customization and configuration of applications to meet business requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure the IT system's security, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks related to applications and data security.

Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with ERP vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage budgets, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Develop and maintain reporting and analytics capabilities to provide insights into Applications performance and business operations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of IT initiatives and identify areas for improvement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • MBA or relevant master's degree preferred but not essential.
  • 10 years' experience in applications management
  • Proven experience with major ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of leading large-scale ERP implementations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a global, multicultural environment and manage distributed teams.
