Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer – Windows, Azure DevOps, IaC (8+ Years Required)

Location: Primarily Remote – NYC or East Coast Preferred
Type: W-2 or C2C | U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders Only
Client: New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE)

Position Summary

BlueSun Technologies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the automation, deployment, and performance tuning of Windows-based systems within Azure environments. This is a high-impact infrastructure engineering role, requiring deep expertise in Windows Server, IIS, Azure DevOps CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or system administration, with a track record of building resilient, scalable, and secure deployment pipelines for Windows-hosted services.

Minimum Hard Requirements — Do Not Apply Unless You Meet All of These:

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or Windows system administration
  • 3+ years specifically working in Azure environments
  • 3+ years building and managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps

Technical Skills (Must-Have):

  • Expert in Windows Server administration and IIS configuration
  • Hands-on experience automating deployments using:
  • PowerShell
  • ARM templates or Bicep
  • YAML-based Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Strong grasp of infrastructure as code, cloud architecture, and environment provisioning
  • Comfortable troubleshooting and optimizing IIS-hosted applications in production

Cloud & Monitoring:

  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and performance telemetry tools
  • Familiarity with Azure Functions, runbooks, or similar automation tools
  • Understanding of cloud security, role-based access control, and governance best practices

Compliance & Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Must reside and work from the continental United States
  • Must be able to pass NYC DOE fingerprinting and background checks
  • Must be eligible for entry into the DOE PETS system
  • No offshore, H-1B, OPT, CPT, or visa transfers accepted
  • Must be willing to attend occasional onsite meetings in NYC
  • No travel reimbursement provided — NYC-local or East Coast preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
  • Automate provisioning of Windows Server and IIS infrastructure via IaC
  • Develop and manage PowerShell scripts for deployment, config, and environment bootstrapping
  • Monitor and enhance performance, security, and availability of hosted applications
  • Diagnose and resolve deployment and environment issues in real-time
  • Enforce DevSecOps best practices, governance policies, and cloud cost-efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with development and infrastructure teams for seamless releases

Not a Fit If You...

  • Have less than 8 years of experience in DevOps or cloud infrastructure roles
  • Have never deployed or maintained Windows Server and IIS using automation
  • Lack hands-on Azure DevOps pipeline creation or YAML scripting experience
  • Are not fluent in PowerShell or familiar with ARM/Bicep templates
  • Cannot work within NYC DOE security/compliance frameworks
  • Require sponsorship, relocation, or cannot attend onsite meetings in NYC

Pay: $140,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
