Job Summary:
Columbia River Health is seeking a dynamic Senior IT Systems Administrator to manage and maintain the IT infrastructure of our growing healthcare clinic. In this role, you will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our systems while supporting regulatory compliance, particularly under HIPAA and other healthcare data regulations. You will manage cloud and on-premises systems, oversee data governance, and provide Tiers 1, 2 and 3 support as needed.
This role requires expertise in Microsoft Active Directory Services, network management, file sharing and permissions management, and data governance. You will collaborate with various departments to provide technical leadership and ensure smooth daily operations. Strong knowledge of IT security best practices, regulatory compliance, and healthcare-specific standards is essential. You will be an integral part of the management team and your expertise will be essential in helping us move into the future.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and administer Microsoft Active Directory Services (AD DS), ensuring proper access management and identity governance.
- Oversee and maintain network file shares, enforce appropriate permissions, and manage data storage solutions.
- Implement and maintain security policies, controls, and access management in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
- Monitor and maintain system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure uptime across all IT systems.
- Perform software updates, patches, and routine maintenance for servers, applications, and network devices.
- Maintain system documentation, including network diagrams, infrastructure configurations, and system inventories.
- Administer and manage Microsoft 365 Exchange Online or hybrid Exchange environments.
- Create and manage user mailboxes, distribution lists, shared mailboxes, and aliases.
- Monitor and troubleshoot email-related issues, including mail flow problems, spam filtering, and quarantine management.
- Implement and manage email security features, including Microsoft Defender for Office 365 or other email protection tools.
- Enforce email retention policies, manage archiving, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory email requirements.
- Provide support for mobile device management (MDM) and ensure secure access to email on personal and company devices.
- Configure and manage LAN, WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and switches to ensure a secure and stable network environment.
- Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Provide network support for telemedicine platforms and remote workforce access.
- Ensure healthcare data is handled securely in accordance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable regulations.
- Implement data governance policies and ensure data classification, retention, and protection policies are followed.
- Support audits, compliance reporting, and risk assessments.
- Manage data backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Provide Tiers 1, 2 and Tier 3 technical support to internal staff for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system or network problems promptly.
- Collaborate with end-users to provide training and technical assistance.
- Escalate complex issues to vendors or specialized teams when necessary.
- Lead or participate in IT projects related to infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and application implementations.
- Work cross-functionally with clinical and administrative teams to gather IT requirements and deliver solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior IT staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration or network management.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Active Directory Services and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of file sharing systems, NTFS permissions, and data management best practices.
- Expertise in network management (e.g., firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, and VLANs).
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 Exchange Online or hybrid Exchange environments.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Proficient in troubleshooting Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Strong understanding of security protocols, endpoint protection, and identity management.
- Experience providing technical support and managing help desk escalations.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or CCNA.
- Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
- Familiarity with healthcare management systems (e.g., EHR platforms like Epic or Cerner).
- Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
