Job Overview
The Website Designer is a skilled, imaginative, and detail-oriented design specialist who collaborates closely with brand strategists, brand managers, content creators, developers, and other designers to craft engaging, brand-aligned websites that captivate users and drive results to achieve clients’ goals. This position combines thoughtful UX/UI strategy with bold visual storytelling to create sites that are as visually appealing as they are effective at driving conversions.
Duties and Responsibilities
The objective of the Website Designer is to design intuitive and on-brand websites that support client goals and user needs. This role supports all website and website-related projects with effective, beautiful, and strategic website design. They will contribute to the agency's mission of supporting and growing businesses by:
- Lead website discoveries and participate actively in relevant client meetings
- Design and support the production of responsive websites, landing pages, and interactive digital experiences optimized across devices and screen sizes.
- Translate brand strategy and messaging into clear, intuitive, and compelling user experiences in collaboration with content, strategy, and developers.
- Develop wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, and internal interactive prototypes to inform programming.
- Create style guides that ensure consistency and scalability.
- Ensure designs are set up for mobile responsiveness.
- Implement minor CSS changes and coding as needed.
- Perform website audits and regularly review agency-designed sites for opportunities to optimize designs based on usability testing, analytics, and performance data.
- Implement website punchlists for clients.
- Update website content on behalf of the client, including images, graphics, text, or adding pages to an existing site.
- Support Content by implementing SEO best practices such as page hierarchy, alt tags, etc.
- Contribute to the agency's internal marketing initiatives, including the maintenance of our own website, blog graphics, and digital campaigns.
- Stay ahead of digital design trends and technology, bringing fresh thinking to every project.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in web design, graphic design, interaction design, or related field or 3–5 years of experience designing websites in a marketing or agency setting
- A strong portfolio showcasing responsive web design, UI/UX thinking, and visual storytelling
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and CMS platforms like WordPress (you don’t need to code, but you should know how things work)
- Solid understanding of information architecture, accessibility standards, and user experience principles
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and web performance optimization
- Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, feedback-driven culture
- Must be a “possibilitarian” – a strategic thinker who works toward finding solutions to client challenges
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills, both visual and verbal
- Motion/animation or video editing skills are a bonus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.85 - $40.92 per hour
