Job Title: CMDB Lead / Database Administrator
Location: Austin, TX 78744 (100% Onsite)
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Pay Rate: $80-85/hr.

Position Overview
GTS Technology is seeking a highly skilled CMDB Lead / Database Admin for a long-term contract in Austin, TX. This role will be 100% onsite and responsible for leading the development, governance, and optimization of the enterprise Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of ITIL best practices, ServiceNow CMDB modules, and configuration management processes to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and alignment with business and IT objectives.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive CMDB strategy aligned with ITIL best practices and business objectives.

· Assess, recommend, and implement improvements to the CMDB (e.g., ServiceNow) to enhance accuracy, integrity, and operational efficiency.

· Establish governance frameworks, standards, and policies to ensure CMDB health, compliance, and continuous improvement.

· Define and maintain CI (Configuration Item) identification and naming conventions; oversee processes for capturing and controlling CIs throughout their lifecycle.

· Manage CI relationships to accurately represent dependencies and associations within the IT environment.

· Oversee data population and maintenance efforts, including ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, data imports, and integrations with other IT systems.

· Ensure CMDB supports ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Asset Management).

· Monitor CMDB performance metrics, report findings, and drive corrective actions.

· Provide expert guidance on ServiceNow CMDB processes and related modules (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Orchestration).

· Lead design reviews and recommend improvements to CMDB and associated processes.

· Develop and implement CI data governance and audit processes; resolve issues identified during audits.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Configuration Management, Risk, Security, Operations, and Asset Management.

· Mentor and educate technical teams on CMDB best practices.

• Generate reports and insights from the CMDB to support leadership decision-making and continuous improvement.

· Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications

· 8–10 years of experience in software development, design, or architecture with strong exposure to IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.

· 5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, including Discovery, Service Mapping, and integrations.

· Deep knowledge of ITIL frameworks, configuration management practices, and IT governance.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

· Excellent communication and leadership abilities to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

· ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB or related certification.

· Experience with enterprise-scale ITSM environments in public sector or regulated industries.

· Familiarity with risk, compliance, and security frameworks.

· Strong background in data governance, automation, and reporting.
