Job Overview
Julius Silvert is a long‑standing, family‑owned wholesale food distributor based in Philadelphia, serving leading chefs, restaurants, and foodservice operators across the Northeast and Mid‑Atlantic. We are modernizing our technology stack across ERP, warehouse operations, and ecommerce, and we’re looking for an onsite IT Manager to lead our internal team and help drive that evolution.
How to Apply
Please send resumes and a brief note about relevant experience to [email protected] with the subject line: “IT Manager – Julius Silvert.” I’ll review candidates as they come in and coordinate next steps with you
Responsibilities
- The IT Manager will lead a team of 5 to 6 IT professionals and act as the primary point of contact between technology and the business. You will balance hands‑on work with management responsibilities, ensuring our infrastructure, applications, and end‑user support are stable, secure, and responsive to operational needs in a 24/6 food distribution environment.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small IT team (help desk, infrastructure, applications), including setting priorities, providing feedback, and driving accountability.
- Own day‑to‑day IT operations: networks, servers, endpoints, phones, warehouse devices (scanners, printers), and core business applications (ERP, WMS, routing, ecommerce).
- Oversee incident management and problem management, including root‑cause analysis and preventive measures to minimize downtime for warehouse, logistics, and office teams.
- Partner closely with operations, warehouse, sales, and ecommerce leadership to understand needs, scope projects, and implement practical solutions that improve efficiency and reliability.
- Manage external vendors and service providers, including contracts, renewals, and escalations.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices, patching, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Contribute to planning and execution for upgrades, migrations, and new system implementations as the company continues to modernize its technology stack.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in IT, with at least 2+ years in a lead or manager role overseeing a team.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Windows environments, networking, and supporting line‑of‑business systems.
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or other operations‑heavy environments is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly with non‑technical stakeholders and translate business priorities into actionable IT plans.
- Comfortable being onsite full‑time at our Philadelphia headquarters and occasionally in the warehouse/operations areas.
