Job description

Position Summary

CEIs client is hiring a SQL DBA / Developer who will manage the performance, integrity, and security of financial and process databases. The Engineer also designs and delivers data transfer processes, troubleshoots issues, ensures data availability, and collaborates with other departments to support business needs.


  • Contract to hire position
  • $60-70 / HR
  • Hybrid position in Alexandria, VA

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade MS SQL Server database software and related products.
  • Design and maintain views and stored procedures and indexing strategies.
  • Create custom import and export routines.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries and indexes for efficiency.
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and errors.
  • Manage access permissions and user roles.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database environments.
  • Collaborate with developers, system, network administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems such as SQL Server, MongoDB, or MySQL
  • Proficiency in database scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL).
  • Experience in VB, C#, .NET, Java, Python or additional coding languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with financial system databases and process (e.g., Aderant, NetSuite)
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for database management.
  • Experience with integrating AI models into systems and workflows.
  • Experience with virtual desktop and server environments.
  • Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with legal applications such as document management systems, time & billing, or case management systems.
