Job Title: Director of Information Technology (IT)

Location: Flexible / Multi-site
Travel: Regular travel required (25%)
Reports to: Executive Leadership (CFO / COO / CEO)

Position Summary

The Director of IT is a hands-on technology leader responsible for driving and supporting information technology across multiple manufacturing locations. This role blends strategic leadership with active, day-to-day involvement in systems, infrastructure, and plant-floor technology. The Director of IT will spend time on-site at manufacturing facilities, partnering closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to ensure technology solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with plastic injection molding operations.

Key Responsibilities

IT Strategy & Hands-On Leadership

  • Develop and execute a scalable IT strategy aligned with business and manufacturing objectives.
  • Remain actively involved in system architecture, troubleshooting, and critical implementations.
  • Lead, mentor, and support IT staff across multiple locations, providing direct technical guidance when needed.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, standards, and best practices across all facilities.

Manufacturing Systems & Plant-Floor Support

  • Provide hands-on support for manufacturing systems including ERP/MRP, MES, and shop-floor data collection.
  • Work directly with plant leadership and engineers to support injection molding machines, automation, and machine connectivity.
  • Ensure high system uptime and rapid response to production-impacting issues.
  • Support traceability, quality, and reporting requirements across all manufacturing sites.

Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Reliability

  • Oversee and actively manage networks, servers, cloud environments, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives including risk mitigation, audits, and incident response.
  • Ensure IT infrastructure supports 24/7 manufacturing operations with minimal downtime.

Data, Analytics & Digital Transformation

  • Drive integration and use of data across operations, quality, supply chain, and finance.
  • Implement dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools to support operational decision-making.
  • Identify and deploy practical, value-driven digital and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Travel & Multi-Site Support

  • Travel regularly to manufacturing locations to support implementations, troubleshoot issues, and build strong relationships with plant teams.
  • Act as the primary IT point of contact for site leadership during system rollouts and major incidents.
  • Ensure consistent IT capabilities and standards across all locations.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within manufacturing.
  • Proven experience supporting multi-site manufacturing environments; plastic injection molding experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing applications, and infrastructure.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly (25%) to support operations.

Preferred

  • Experience with MES, automation, IIoT, or Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and customer audit requirements.
  • Relevant certifications (PMP, ITIL, CISSP, or similar).

Pay: From $130,000.00 per year
