Job description

(LOCAL APPLICANTS ONLY)

About Entech Instruments

Entech Instruments is a leading manufacturer of analytical laboratory equipment for environmental air testing, water and soil analysis, and chemical monitoring applications. Our products help government agencies, laboratories, and research institutions worldwide detect and analyze volatile and semi-volatile compounds with extreme sensitivity and accuracy.

We are currently undertaking a major overhaul of our web presence, with the goal of delivering a best-in-class digital experience that reflects the sophistication of our technology and the needs of our scientific customer base. To support this initiative, we are seeking a full-time UX/UI Designer with deep WordPress experience to lead the development and launch of our next-generation website — including our new WooCommerce-based online store.

Role Overview

You will lead the design, development, and structure of Entech’s new website — rethinking everything from navigation and content flow to visual design and custom WordPress components. This role requires a hybrid thinker and doer: someone who is as comfortable crafting high-fidelity design mockups as they are working hands-on with WordPress (including custom themes, plugins, ACF, and PHP-based templates).

This is not a prebuilt-template job — it’s a strategic and creative leadership role for someone ready to tackle a deeply custom, performance-critical website used by a highly technical audience. The role will also include the design and launch of our WooCommerce store, ensuring seamless product browsing and purchasing experiences for our lab instrumentation customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit and redesign the existing website with a focus on usability, content architecture, and design consistency
  • Build responsive page templates and components using WordPress with custom theme and plugin integration (ACF, CPTs, etc.)
  • Design and deploy a WooCommerce storefront that aligns with our brand and meets the expectations of scientific and B2B buyers
  • Create wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for new site sections and features
  • Ensure mobile-first performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices
  • Translate complex scientific concepts into user-friendly web experiences
  • Collaborate with marketing, product managers, and technical staff to align site structure with strategic goals
  • Own the full design-to-deployment lifecycle, including QA and site optimization
  • Maintain documentation for systems, plug-ins, and content models
  • Stay current with UX/UI best practices and web design trends

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of UX/UI and front-end design experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on WordPress development, including custom themes and plugin integration
  • Proven experience with WooCommerce, including storefront design and product management workflows
  • Proficiency with Adobe XD, Figma, or similar UX tools
  • Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (PHP and ACF experience preferred)
  • Experience working on non-template, custom-coded WordPress environments
  • A solid portfolio showcasing both UX/UI design and real-world WordPress implementations
  • Familiarity with SEO, accessibility, and performance optimization
  • Highly organized and self-driven, with excellent communication and time management skills

Bonus Experience

  • Scientific, technical, or B2B industry experience (especially in analytical instruments or lab technologies)
  • Experience with multilingual WP setups or Salesforce/CRM integrations

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge science and impactful technology
  • A collaborative and growth-minded team environment
