Network Administrator I

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective

Under general supervision, provides advanced technical and user support to all North Star Agency (Crossgate Logistics, Dyancraft) staff. Manages computer network, including both servers and workstations; performs a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to enable users to maximize productivity. Assists technology team and other departments in the planning and development of network resources.

Researches, analyzes, and defines complex user problems and requirements, independently develops comprehensive program specifications, and and associated procedures. Provides a wide range of technical support, problem resolution, and training to users on both hardware and software issues.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary – working with Mac and Windows-based systems.
  • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade company’s local network, server, and cloud-based storage systems.
  • Install and integrate new server hardware and applications.
  • Support and administer third-party applications while ensuring network security, confidentiality and connectivity
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses
  • Responsible for the setup of new user accounts, permissions, and passwords.
  • Resolve problems reported by end user and define network policies and procedures.
  • Specify system requirements and design solutions
  • Assist in troubleshooting application issues with the business and development teams.
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of networking and be able to implement a proposed design with minimal risk to business.
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching.
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
  • Able to excel in a manufacturing/distribution facility and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Exempt employees are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. No overtime or additional compensation is provided to exempt employees. Must be able to maintain our regular work schedule of Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Travel

Some local travel may be required for this position. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and have current automobile insurance.

Required Education and Experience

  • BA/BS in MIS, Computer Science or related field (experience will substitute for some education).
  • Minimum of 4 years as an IT professional is required.
  • Microsoft Server experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
