Business Development Manager
Territory: Texas (statewide; focus on major metros)
Type: Full-time | Client-facing | Travel as needed

About the Role
GCT is seeking a results-driven Business Development professional to identify, pursue, and secure third-party general contracting opportunities across the construction and development market in Texas. This role owns relationship building, pipeline development, and pursuit execution—then transitions awarded work to operations for delivery
Responsibilities
Pipeline & Opportunity Development
- Identify and pursue third-party general contracting opportunities across Texas within construction and development.
- Build, manage, and report on a pipeline of leads, pursuits, and wins using CRM tools.
- Proactively source opportunities through targeted outreach, relationship mapping, and market visibility.
Relationship Building & Brand Presence
- Build and maintain relationships with developers, owners, brokers, architects, engineers, and key industry stakeholders.
- Represent GCT at industry events, networking opportunities, and regional conferences to generate leads and strengthen brand presence.
- Maintain consistent touchpoints with target accounts to expand opportunities and increase win probability.
Proposals, Bids & Pursuits
- Lead the proposal and bid process for prospective clients.
- Coordinate with preconstruction, estimating, and operations to develop competitive, compelling submissions.
- Align pursuit strategy with capacity, risk profile, schedule realities, and margin expectations.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning
- Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform strategic planning and pricing strategies.
- Track regional development activity and competitor movement to prioritize the strongest opportunities.
Client Ownership Through Handoff
- Serve as the primary point of contact during the business development phase.
- Transition successful pursuits to the operations team with clear scope alignment, expectations, and documented commitments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business development or client-facing roles within commercial construction and/or development in Texas.
- Strong Texas network with developers/owners and/or design and brokerage partners.
- Proven track record of sourcing and securing profitable third-party construction contracts.
- Strong understanding of the general contracting process, including preconstruction, estimating, and project delivery methods.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience winning work across multiple delivery methods (hard bid, negotiated, CMAR, design-build).
- Strong comfort communicating value: schedule certainty, constructability, cost controls, risk management, and execution planning.
- Consistent CRM discipline and forecasting accuracy.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
