Job Title: Database Administrator
Location: [Oakbrook, IL ] – Hybrid (3 days onsite: Mon–Wed or Tues–Thurs)

Overview:
Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their technology team. This role is ideal for a hands-on database professional who not only excels at owning and maintaining databases but also has the ambition to lead, shape policies, and contribute strategically to the organization’s data management initiatives. You will report directly to the VP of Architecture and Application Development and work closely with a high-performing team in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Perform routine database administration tasks, including backups, restores, performance tuning, and monitoring.
- Develop and enforce database policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with technology leadership to design and implement strategic database solutions that align with business objectives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and data integrity initiatives.
- Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and compliance efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on database administration experience.
- Proven expertise in owning and maintaining databases in an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backups, replication, and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and proactively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid, team-oriented environment.
- Financial services industry experience is strongly preferred (essentially required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with policy creation, governance, and strategic database management initiatives.
- Exposure to enterprise architecture and application development environments.
- Certifications in database technologies (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
