Job Summary
SDA Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist II in Norfolk, VA. This role is responsible for leading advanced data analytics efforts, implementing DON data strategies, designing modern software and data systems, and developing enterprise data solutions. The ideal candidate is experienced in software development, data architecture, and visualization tools, and will play a critical role in improving decision-making through actionable metrics and system enhancements.

Salary: $140,000/year
Security Clearance: Active U.S. Secret clearance required
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide and oversee system design, data system analysis, and implementation of tools and technologies in support of NAVIFOR mission and information needs
- Support the development and implementation of Department of the Navy (DON) data strategies
- Analyze metric requirements, visualization capabilities, and data availability to determine feasibility and appropriate solutions
- Lead the development and sustainment of enterprise data architectures and live data feeds by leveraging existing and emerging data sources
- Ensure adherence to information security and information assurance (IA) policies, principles, and best practices
- Develop and manage software applications and databases using modern software tools and frameworks
- Monitor application-related jobs and data replication activities to ensure performance and reliability
- Design and implement automated data validation and anomaly detection mechanisms to support data integrity
- Manage preprocessing, normalization, and distribution of data and metadata used for IWE metric development
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate data presentation platforms for internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver advanced data-driven products and visualizations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in software development and database design using modern tools and frameworks
- Proven experience in data architecture, data systems analysis, and advanced analytics
- Proficiency in general-purpose data analytics tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, D3.js)
- Experience with enterprise database systems and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong understanding of IA/security best practices and secure system development
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills
- Active U.S. Secret clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Navy data programs
- Familiarity with DON data strategy objectives and data governance standards
- Experience with automation of data quality controls and metadata management
- Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, and CI/CD practices
- Knowledge of Navy mission readiness metrics or IWE-related data
