Job Summary

Client is hiring a Senior ServiceNow Developer to own the technical direction, architecture, and delivery of its ServiceNow platform. This is a hands-on senior role, not an oversight-only position. You will design, build, and optimize ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, Discovery, integrations, and CMDB, while guiding platform standards and mentoring other engineers.

This role sits in a regulated, enterprise environment where performance, audit readiness, and platform stability matter. You’ll work directly with engineering, security, IT operations, and business stakeholders to translate real operational needs into scalable ServiceNow solutions.

Hybrid requirement: On-site in Reston, VA two days per week (Wednesday/Thursday).

If your background is limited to admin work, basic form configuration, or ticket maintenance, this role will not be a fit. This position is for developers who design platforms, not just support them.

Key Responsibilities (Resume-Language, Task-Driven)

  • Design and develop ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, Discovery, CMDB, SecOps, GRC, and TPRM in an enterprise environment
  • Build and maintain custom workflows, business rules, UI policies, scripts, and integrations using JavaScript and Glide APIs
  • Lead platform architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and audit compliance
  • Develop and support REST/SOAP integrations, Integration Hub flows, and Spokes connecting ServiceNow with external systems
  • Own platform upgrades, enhancements, and optimization, including performance tuning and technical debt reduction
  • Guide and mentor ServiceNow engineers while enforcing development standards and governance
  • Partner with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into deployable ServiceNow solutions
  • Maintain platform documentation, technical standards, and knowledge transfer materials

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

  • 10+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
  • Direct experience developing and supporting ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, Discovery, and CMDB
  • Strong ServiceNow architecture and platform design background
  • Advanced scripting experience using JavaScript and Glide APIs
  • Proven experience building integrations using REST/SOAP, Integration Hub, and Spokes
  • Experience leading or technically guiding other ServiceNow developers
  • Ability to work hybrid on-site in Reston, VA (2 days/week)

Preferred / Adjacent Experience (Expands Reach, Does Not Lower Bar)

  • Experience in regulated or compliance-driven enterprise environments
  • Exposure to SecOps, GRC, or TPRM modules
  • Service Portal development using HTML, CSS, AngularJS, Bootstrap
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum / Kanban delivery models
  • Scripting exposure in Python or Perl within Linux environments

Certifications & Education

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM, ITAM, or similar)
  • ITIL v3/v4 (preferred)
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) – highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $175,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
