Job description
About the Role:
We are hiring a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our mission-critical databases. You will be responsible for ensuring database performance, availability, security, and integrity. As a Senior DBA, you’ll work closely with development, infrastructure, and analytics teams to design and implement database solutions that support our growing business.

Key Responsibilities:
· Install, configure, and maintain production, test, and development relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
· Monitor database performance and proactively tune for speed and efficiency
· Manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability
· Implement and enforce security best practices, access controls, and encryption
· Design and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies
· Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patch management
· Collaborate with DevOps and development teams on CI/CD integration for database changes
· Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, including performance bottlenecks and failures
· Document database standards, processes, architecture diagrams, and configurations
· Assist in database capacity planning and future growth forecasting
· Support high availability (HA), failover clustering, and disaster recovery (DR) implementations
· Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
· Provide mentorship to junior DBAs and guide best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· 7+ years of experience in database administration and management
· Strong expertise in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle (must have experience in at least one of these in depth)
· Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis
· Solid knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
· Proficient in SQL scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
· Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL)
· Experience with HA/DR solutions, clustering, replication, and backup tools
· Strong understanding of database security, roles, permissions, and encryption
· Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, New Relic, Prometheus, etc.)
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Excellent communication and documentation skills
· Comfortable working independently in a remote setup
Preferred Qualifications
· Cloud certifications like:
o AWS Certified Database – Specialty
o Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
· Experience with big data or analytics platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Snowflake, BigQuery)
· Knowledge of DevOps, containerized DBs, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible)
· Familiarity with Data Warehousing and ETL pipelines
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
· Equivalent practical experience may be considered in place of formal education
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,231.17 - $132,751.52 per year
