Crunch Fitness is growing its AI team, and this role offers the opportunity to design, build, and ship AI systems that directly impact business performance, operational efficiency, and member satisfaction at scale. You will work on production AI models and AI-powered experiences that influence revenue, retention, and the day-to-day experience of millions of Crunch members.

In this role, you will leverage AI to automate reporting, workflows, and decision-making across the organization while solving complex technical and compliance challenges. You will receive hands-on guidance, mentorship, and feedback from the Senior Manager of AI Integration, while owning meaningful components of Crunch’s AI roadmap.

The scope of work is intentionally broad. You may contribute to everything from training and deploying machine learning models, to scaling AI infrastructure, to building and shipping predictive models and other workflows. As part of a growing AI function, you will also have the opportunity to help shape how the AI team, systems, and capabilities evolve over time.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

· Machine Learning & Predictive Modeling: Assist in the design, development, and refinement of machine learning models, with a specific focus on customer churn prediction and member lifetime value analysis. Utilize Python to process historical data and generate actionable insights for retention strategies.

· Quality Assurance & Optimization: Conduct continuous monitoring and testing of customer-facing voice and chat agents to ensure high-quality, empathetic, and accurate interactions. Analyze conversation logs to identify performance issues and implement logic or prompt adjustments to improve resolution rates.

· Prompt Engineering: Develop and iterate complex system prompts for Large Language Models (LLMs) to ensure consistent brand voice and minimize hallucinations across automated communication channels. Use RAG architectures to structured and unstructured data to automate complex information retrieval tasks.

· API Integration & Automation: Build and maintain robust connections between internal databases, CRM platforms, and third-party AI vendors using REST APIs. Develop Python scripts to automate data entry and reporting workflows, reducing manual operational overhead.

· Data Analysis & Visualization: Aggregate model performance data and business metrics to create comprehensive dashboards and reports using Power BI, facilitating data-driven decision-making for leadership.

· Production Deployment Support: Collaborate with the integration team to support the end-to-end deployment of AI solutions, ensuring systems meet regulatory requirements and service standards before full-scale release.

· Innovation & Trends: Stay current on AI trends and recommend new technologies that could benefit the business & recommend innovations.

· Ethical & Compliant AI Practices: Ensure all AI solutions meet ethical standards, privacy regulations, and uphold our brand’s customer service promise.

· Reporting & Communication: Deliver clear reports and presentations to leadership on project status, outcomes, and strategic recommendations using Power BI, excel and tools applicable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field with 3+ years of full-time, hands-on experience, or a Master’s degree in a similar discipline with 2+ years of full-time experience, working in applied machine learning, AI engineering, or data science roles.
• 2+ years of professional experience building, training, and maintaining machine learning models using Python and SQL, with exposure to production or production-adjacent environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with data manipulation (Pandas, NumPy), machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn), and working with relational databases and complex SQL queries. Must have a strong understanding of probability, statistics, and algorithm selection.
• Solid understanding of core machine learning concepts (e.g., regression, classification, model evaluation) and the ability to translate business problems (retention, churn, conversion) into technical solutions.
• 1+ year of hands-on experience with Large Language Models, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or similar techniques, and supporting chat and/or voice-based AI systems. Proficiency with NLP libraries (HuggingFace, spaCy, LangChain) and Generative AI frameworks, as well as an understanding of vector databases and embedding strategies.
• Experience performing quality assurance and performance evaluation for AI-driven systems, including analyzing outputs or conversations, identifying failure modes, and iterating on prompts, logic, or workflows to improve outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience integrating internal systems and third-party platforms using RESTful APIs, and building automation or data pipelines in Python.
• Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to reason about end-to-end workflows, data flows, compliance constraints, and production reliability.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly document work, report results, and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
