Role Overview
The Systems Administrator IT is a hands on, autonomous role responsible for supporting and maintaining Taplin Companies’ technology infrastructure across offices and project sites. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem solving, and strong customer service in a fast paced and variable environment. Work may include office based support, job site visits, and after hours troubleshooting as needed.
Core Responsibilities
Systems and Infrastructure
- Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Intune, virtualization platforms, and related systems;
- Install, configure, test, and monitor computer hardware and software to meet departmental and operational needs;
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to support performance, scalability, and reliability;
Network and Telecommunications
- Administer and support WAN and LAN environments across multiple locations;
- Coordinate installation and maintenance of fiber, SIP, and datacenter environments;
- Advise on network and datacenter design for new or expanding offices;
- Maintain, renew, and research telecommunications and connectivity provider contracts;
End User Support and Training
- Respond to and resolve user issues, escalating complex problems when appropriate;
- Train new and existing employees on computer equipment, systems, and applications;
- Provide clear guidance and support to users with varying levels of technical expertise;
Security and Risk Management
- Oversee IT security systems across all office locations;
- Establish and maintain data backup procedures and access controls;
- Coordinate security related installations, updates, and modifications;
Vendor and Asset Management
- Work with vendors and service providers to support systems, installations, and repairs;
- Assist with vendor selection and oversight for hardware, software, and services;
- Coordinate distribution, maintenance, and repair of cellular devices and two way radio equipment;
Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain documentation and records related to systems, configurations, and procedures;
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies;
- Adapt systems and tools to better meet operational and end user needs;
Work Environment and Expectations
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this role;
- Occasional travel to project sites and other office locations is required; overnight travel may be required at times;
- Work outside of normal business hours may be required based on system needs and workload;
- The work environment is fast paced and may shift between office settings and active job sites;
Required Qualifications
- Experience administering Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Intune, and virtualization platforms;
- Strong working knowledge of WAN and LAN environments and remote site connectivity;
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently with minimal supervision;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong customer service mindset with a focus on end user support;
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience with a minimum of three years of relevant experience;
- Drug Free
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certification or experience with Meraki networks;
- Experience with Sage software suites;
- Familiarity with APIs and system integrations;

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
