We are seeking a highly skilled SQL DBA.

Role Overview

As a SQL DBA, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. Your primary focus will be ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This role requires a blend of traditional database management and modern cloud data engineering to support our 24/7 operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor system health and performance using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Query Store. Optimize indexes and execution plans.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Manage and maintain Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), and Log Shipping.
• Backup & Recovery: Design and test robust backup and recovery strategies to meet strict RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) requirements.
• Cloud Integration: Manage managed instances in Azure SQL or AWS RDS, including migration projects from on-premises to the cloud.
• Security & Compliance: Manage logins, roles, and permissions. Ensure data encryption (TDE) and auditing meet industry standards (GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC2).
• Automation: Use PowerShell and T-SQL scripts to automate routine maintenance tasks, deployments, and monitoring alerts.

Required Technical Skills

• Database Engine: Deep expertise in SQL Server 2016 through 2022+.
• Querying: Mastery of advanced T-SQL, including stored procedures, triggers, and window functions.
• Tooling: Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure Data Studio, and third-party monitoring tools like SolarWinds or Redgate.
• Cloud Platforms: Experience with Azure SQL Database or Amazon RDS for SQL Server.
• Scripting: Strong PowerShell skills for administrative automation.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Education: B.S. in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in SQL Server administration in a production environment.

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300)
• AWS Certified Database – Specialty
• MCSE: Data Management and Analytics (Legacy but relevant)

Must be able to pass a criminal background check as well as a drug test.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
