Job Title: Java Microservices Application Architect (W2 only)
Location: McLean, VA (Onsite, 5 days a week)
Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Conversion Salary: $185,000 – $190,000 per annum
Manager's notes:
- Most of the profiles were either at a Tech Lead or Project Manager level, rather than fitting the Solution Architect role we are targeting. We did consider one or two profiles, but unfortunately, they did not meet our expectations.
- Going forward, we are specifically looking for Solution Architect profiles with a strong development background, not development leads who are currently performing lead responsibilities. There's often a disconnect between the skills listed on the resume and the actual experience candidates possess.
- During interviews, we’ve observed that many candidates’ real skill sets do not align with what's mentioned in their resumes.
About the Role:
- We are seeking a highly experienced Application Architect to join our Multi-Family Solutions Architecture team. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential for full-time conversion after 6 months. You will work onsite in McLean, VA, supporting modernization initiatives and architectural support across multiple business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Solution Architect, collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand complex business problems and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Provide hands-on architectural guidance and support to Java development teams.
- Lead efforts in the modernization of legacy applications to modern Microservices-based architecture.
- Design and implement Java-based solutions, including proof of concepts (POCs) and production-ready systems.
- Participate in architectural reviews, provide design recommendations, and ensure adherence to enterprise and domain-specific standards.
- Support ongoing architecture needs across various business areas including asset management, servicing, and surveillance.
- Work with tools like MS Visio, Product IO, and apply modified TOGAF methodologies to create architecture design artifacts.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in solutions architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java development and solid understanding of design patterns.
- Expertise in Microservices architecture and Cloud-native technologies.
- Experience with Angular, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience in application modernization and migration from legacy systems to Microservices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work on-demand across different projects and applications, depending on business priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AIM (Application Integration & Management) platforms.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and concepts.
- Exposure to TOGAF or similar architectural frameworks.
- Previous experience in Multi-Family or Financial Services domains.
Team Environment:
- You’ll be joining a close-knit team of 11 architects and developers. Rather than working on a single project, you'll provide architecture support on a need basis, assisting with ongoing modernization and enhancement of multiple internal applications.
