Summary:
The Software Specialist is responsible for evaluating, optimizing, and supporting the district’s core software platforms. This position ensures NPUSC is fully leveraging the tools it invests in, monitors updates and new features across systems, and provides structured documentation and training resources to support staff and district operations. The role bridges technical systems with real instructional and operational needs, helping the district grow beyond baseline functionality and use technology more effectively.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Research, analyze, and test new features in district software platforms including Mosyle, Meraki, Google Admin, FinalForms, and other SaaS systems
● Identify underutilized tools or workflows and present structured recommendations to the Director of Technology
● Create clear documentation, guides, and internal resources for new features, workflows, or updates
● Collaborate with teachers and staff to help them understand how to leverage tools more effectively
● Provide support to the System Administrator for system-level projects and platform optimization
● Coordinate with the PowerSchool/Data Specialist on integration workflows and data mapping
● Track system changes, version updates, and feature rollouts and proactively communicate impacts
● Assist with onboarding processes by preparing software profiles, configuration templates, and user documentation
● Participate in district initiatives where software alignment is required across multiple departments
● Help analyze ticket trends to identify recurring issues that can be solved through automation or improved workflow design
● Support technology staff during implementations and major rollouts by offering system insight and feature training
Expectations and Access:
● Expected to maintain deep familiarity with all district platforms and continuously monitor changes
● Must be proactive and self-directed with strong organizational and follow-through skills
● Will collaborate closely with the Director of Technology and System Administrator
● Will have scoped access to core systems including: Mosyle, Google Admin, Meraki Dashboard, documentation platforms, and district SaaS tools
● Will not be responsible for daily ticket response but may assist when issues relate directly to system workflows or software behavior
● Will contribute to PD resources but will not directly lead formal training unless requested
Required Skills and Knowledge:
● Strong understanding of SaaS platforms, MDM environments, SSO integrations, and dashboard-based systems
● Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, accessible documentation
● Familiarity with Google Workspace administration, SIS-related integrations, and device management
● Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate workflows and identify improvements
● Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff
● Understanding of K-12 instructional and operational needs is highly preferred
Education and Experience:
● High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, or related field preferred
● Experience working with K-12 systems strongly preferred
● Prior experience managing or supporting cloud-based platforms (MDM, SSO, SIS add-ons) preferred
Certifications such as Google Admin, Apple, CompTIA, or similar are beneficial but not required
Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
