Technical Sales Engineer - Water Treatment

Santa Barbara Control Systems / Chemtrol

Santa Barbara Control Systems (SBCS, www.sbcontrol.com) is the manufacturer of the Chemtrol line of automated, water-quality controllers and a global leader in automated water treatment. We seek a Technical Sales Engineer for marketing and technical sales of our products in industrial applications. SBCS’ largest market is commercial pools, spas and water parks. Chemtrol products are also sold and used in a wide array of markets beyond commercial aquatics. This includes industrial and municipal waste water, HVAC cooling towers and boilers, agriculture, potable water, and others. This position is to strengthen, expand and diversify our presence in these areas.

Candidates should have a strong understanding of water chemistry and treatment and experience in a relevant industrial sector, such as waste water, municipal water or agricultural water-treatment. Candidates should have knowledge of the market in one or more of these areas and be prepared to immediately engage in sales. This includes building relationships with architects and trade networks, attending trade shows, conducting training seminars, etc. SBCS has an excellent reputation for its customer support, and the position requires providing technical support to existing and prospective customers.

The Technical Sales Engineer will also work together with our production and product-development colleagues on designing new products targeted to particular industries and applications and custom products when orders warrant them. This position is thus an opportunity not only to work in sales but also to work with customers on finding solutions in a range of applications and working with colleagues on developing new products. The Technical Sales Engineer must also be available to contribute, when needed, to our work in the commercial aquatics market, including taking technical support calls, orders and attending trade shows, in coordination and with the support of our very experienced commercial aquatics sales team. Likewise, the commercial aquatics sales team is a resource that can help on the industrial side, as we are a team-oriented small business.

A degree in chemistry, engineering or a related field is preferred; otherwise, a demonstrated strong knowledge of water chemistry, sanitization and related processes and equipment for water treatment is required.

The position is office-based and located in Santa Barbara, CA. The work requires up to 35 percent travel. SBCS provides a competitive compensation package with benefits in a productive and comfortable work environment. Compensation is based on experience. The range of total compensation shown is a combination of base salary plus commissions and bonuses.
