About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and contribute directly to the core backend systems powering Pixydocs' intelligent document processing platform. You'll work primarily with Python, Django, and REST API in the AWS environment helping to build, test, and maintain robust and scalable features. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior developers, product managers, and frontend engineers to design and implement backend features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python using the Django framework.
- Develop and maintain APIs consumed by our React frontend and potentially other services.
- Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving backend issues.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- Work with databases (PostgreSQL and Dynamo) to store and retrieve data effectively.
- Utilize Git and GitHub for version control and team collaboration following best practices.
- Learn and apply new technologies and development best practices.
- Contribute to documentation for APIs and backend systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of backend development principles and concepts.
- Programming experience with Python.
- Familiarity with web frameworks (experience with Django is a plus).
- Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git and GitHub.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A strong desire to learn, grow, and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience/bootcamp completion.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-haves):
- Must physically already live in Utah.
- Direct experience building applications with Django.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies like React (helps in understanding full-stack interactions).
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS a plus).
- Interest in or exposure to Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning concepts.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., pytest).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
