Summary
Join the Transit Asset Management Team at Valley Metro where you will play a direct part in optimizing systems that support daily transit operations. In this impactful role, you will oversee the daily operation, support, and back-end management (including scripting and coding) of our Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system and its integrated applications. This Senior EAM Database Engineer ensures system reliability, smooth data integration, and efficient performance across platforms, serving as a subject-matter expert, guiding staff, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and implementing solutions to keep Valley Metro’s critical asset management systems running effectively.
Purpose of Role:
Oversees the daily operation, support, and back-end management (inclusive of scripting and coding) of the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system and its integrated applications.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field and four (4) years of experience in:
- System architecture and Network administration,
- Process automation via scripting Batch and PowerShell for Windows, Bash for Linux, Azure, SQL,
- Database Administration/Data Analytics/SQL Administration,
- Linux operating system (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, Rocky),
- Systems integration (APIs, middleware, data imports/exports) and user training,
- Business process analysis and system maintenance;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
A valid Arizona Driver's License with an acceptable driving record upon hire.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
The following functions are intended to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities of this position and are not an exhaustive list of all duties that may be performed.
- Ensures system reliability, availability, and accurate asset and maintenance record keeping, with a strong emphasis on monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving back-end interface and integration issues through root-cause analysis.
- Design, build, and maintain Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that allow the Enterprise Asset Management system to communicate cross-functionally with other applications, focusing on security, scalability, and performance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for internal staff of all levels regarding application and system support; provide professional and technical guidance on efficient business processes and systems integration; and facilitate communication and provide recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet functional requirements and assist with requirement gathering, technical design reviews, and solution recommendations.
- Train other members of the EAM Support Team on the above systems so that they can act as backup support, cross-train on other business applications sufficiently to serve as a secondary SME, and provide backup support for those systems.
- Maintain the EAM system while knowing business productivity times and slow periods to provide the best uptime for the EAM system; coordinate effective patch scheduling that least impacts the end-user(s); apply patches, updates, configurations, and fixes.
- Establish applicable policies and procedures, maintain documentation, and related correspondence.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
In addition, when assigned to Enterprise Resource Planning:
- Verify user roles and administer system access.
- Facilitate necessary system testing.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Extensive scripting and coding to resolve integration issues/bugs across programs.
- Extensive application troubleshooting and issue resolution processes.
- Extensive systems integration theories and business process methodologies.
- Extensive data collection, analysis and reporting system operations.
- Extensive root cause analysis and system maintenance procedures.
- Training and education program development methodologies.
- Basic user access and role administration processes.
- Basic system testing and quality assurance procedures.
- Using a computer and related software.
In addition, when assigned to Enterprise Resource Planning:
- User access management and security.
Skill in:
- Coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and collaborating with front-end/back-end teams to integrate services, ensuring smooth data exchange and robust system architecture.
- Responding to and resolving application tickets promptly.
- Providing training and educating users on applications.
- Facilitating IT-related efforts among management and staff.
- Maintaining system documentation and policies.
- Conducting root cause analysis for system issues.
- Administering user roles and system access controls.
- Supporting cross-training efforts among application teams.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to exchange information and receive work direction.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical office setting with routine use of standard office equipment. This role is sedentary requiring the physical exertion of up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
This role typically requires sitting, handling, fine dexterity, visual acuity, hearing, speaking, walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, twisting, time pressure, tedious or exacting work, changing of tasks, multi-tasking, irregular work schedule/overtime and working with others on a team.

Pay: $86,365.70 - $129,548.54 per year
