About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Architect to lead the design, implementation, and modernization of GIS cloud solutions for utility clients. You’ll play a key role in enterprise architecture planning, project execution, and technical consulting, working closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. U.S. Military Veterans, National Guardsmen, Reservists, and/or Military Spouses are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cloud architecture design for GIS platforms (primarily using AWS or Azure).
• Modernize existing GIS infrastructure and support cloud migrations.
• Build architecture diagrams, cost estimates, and implementation roadmaps.
• Support proposals (RFP/RFI/RFQ) with technical input, timelines, and level-of-effort estimates.
• Guide teams on cloud best practices, security, scaling, and performance.
• Facilitate client workshops to gather requirements and define cloud strategies.
• Serve as a thought leader through documentation, presentations, and mentoring.

Minimum Qualifications

• 11+ years of cloud consulting experience (AWS or Azure preferred).
• 6+ years of enterprise GIS experience (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
• Experience designing and deploying cloud-native or hybrid GIS systems.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Puppet, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, networking, and performance tuning.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Cloud certification from AWS, Azure, Google, or Oracle.
• Experience working with utility clients.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools, monitoring solutions (e.g., ArcGIS Monitor, Prometheus), and Esri cloud deployment tools.

Additional Info

• Remote position with periodic travel for client meetings or team events.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
