Director of Information Technology - Store Systems (Point-of-Sale)

Location: In-office, Costa Mesa, CA (no remote work)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Direct Reports: Store Systems Manager, Support Manager
Salary: $150,000-$170,000 annually with full benefits

Mission for the Role:

  • Lead and complete the POS rollout for two fast-growing restaurant concepts, manage ongoing IT systems and infrastructure (networking, phones, POS), and drive franchisee adoption of new technology initiatives.
  • Ensure a high standard of technical support and responsiveness by leveraging both an in-house team and an offshore helpdesk.

Key Outcomes (First 6-12 Months):

  • Successfully roll out POS systems across all company-owned and franchised locations.
  • Ensure 100% uptime and reliable performance of IT infrastructure (internet, phones, networking gear, POS terminals).
  • Own and maintain POS menu and pricing configuration across all stores in partnership with Marketing and Operations.
  • Drive 90%+ franchisee compliance/adoption of tech rollouts within deadlines.
  • Establish a responsive IT support model with clear SLA benchmarks across helpdesk and internal support.
  • Build trust and engagement with franchisees by clearly communicating the value of new tech initiatives.
  • Translate executive goals into detailed project execution plans and deliver results on schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all IT projects including new store openings, POS and systems upgrades, and hardware deployments.
  • Maintain and update in-store technology solutions (POS configs, pricing, menus) to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage franchisee communication and onboarding; advocate for technology initiatives to drive adoption.
  • Oversee helpdesk operations, ensuring offshore support meets SLAs and provides excellent service.
  • Standardize and document IT infrastructure for scalability and easier support.
  • Develop and mentor two direct reports to build a strong, dependable team.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years in IT leadership, ideally in multi-unit restaurant, retail, or hospitality environments.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proven success leading POS rollouts (e.g., Revel, Toast, NCR, Micros, etc.).
  • Experience working with franchise operations and navigating vendor/franchisee relationships.
  • Strong technical background in networking, hardware, telephony, and cloud-based systems.
  • Demonstrated success managing offshore helpdesks or distributed support teams.
  • Hands-on experience with POS menu/pricing configuration and back-office platforms.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with restaurant operations or franchise ownership.
  • Experience with MDM, remote monitoring, VOIP platforms, centralized configuration tools.
  • Formal project management training or certification (PMP, Scrum, Agile).
