Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Enterprise IT to lead and evolve the internal IT operations of our 2,000-person software company. In this role, you will oversee all enterprise applications and IT services – from application management and deployment to IT purchasing, vendor relations, and software licensing – with an Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure (ECI) approach focused on SaaS solutions. A key emphasis is placed on Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, etc.) and driving automation to streamline processes. You will manage and mentor a team of Application Engineers and IT Helpdesk staff, fostering a people-focused culture that emphasizes customer service and aligning IT initiatives with business objectives. Given our company’s M&A growth strategy, you will also play a critical role in integrating acquired companies’ IT systems to ensure seamless transitions. (Location: Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) area preferred; remote candidates will be considered.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Application & Service Management: Microsoft 365, Okta, Microsoft Licensing, etc.
  • Automation & Optimization: Implement and promote automation in IT operations, knowledge and experience in an automation first environment. Experience with PowerShell, Power Automate, n8n, or other relevant tools.
  • Vendor Management & Purchasing: Manager external vendors for software and hardware purchases. Ability to track usage and handle renewals is key.
  • Supervise software asset management and licensing for all enterprise applications. Track license usage and renewals, ensure compliance with license agreements, and optimize license allocations to control costs.
  • Develop and execute the company’s IT strategy and roadmap in alignment with overall business goals. Adopt a cloud-first/SaaS-focused strategy for new solutions and upgrades, emphasizing scalability and flexibility. Define the future-state architecture for enterprise IT (productivity tools, collaboration platforms, communication systems, etc.) and drive initiatives that leverage technology to improve business efficiency and productivity.
  • Prepare, manage, and track the annual IT budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Lead the IT integration of newly acquired companies into our environment. Plan and execute the technical onboarding of acquired company IT systems – including user accounts, email and collaboration tools, applications, and infrastructure – with minimal disruption to business operations. This involves coordinating across teams to merge Microsoft 365 tenants, networks, and applications, and ensuring business continuity and data integrity during transitions.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary IT team (Application Engineers, Helpdesk staff, and Infrastructure/Networking Teams), providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Champion IT change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, including substantial leadership experience in an IT Manager/Director (or similar) role overseeing enterprise IT operations. Experience managing IT in a 2,000+ employee environment or high-growth company is highly desirable.
  • Deep expertise in administering and optimizing Microsoft 365 services at scale.
  • Proven ability to lead post-merger IT integrations, including migrating or consolidating IT systems, directories (AD/Azure AD), email tenants, and applications of acquired companies. Familiarity with the challenges of combining disparate IT environments and data sets, and strategies to integrate them smoothly is required.

By joining our team as the Director of Enterprise IT, you will be a key driver in our company’s success — ensuring our internal technology environment is robust, agile, and aligned with our strategic goals. If you are a people-centric leader with a passion for technology innovation and operational excellence, we encourage you to apply and help us shape the future of IT at our organization.
