Primary Purpose of Position: The Software Engineer - Pega focus is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications on the Pega Platform to automate workflows, streamline business processes, and improve user experience. This role requires advanced Pega application architecture, decisioning, and integration skills to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performance solutions.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Pega Application Development: Configure case types, data models, flows, activities, decision rules, integrations, and UI components in compliance with Pega guardrails and best practices.
- Integration: Build and maintain integrations with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, data pages, and external data sources.
- Reusable Components: Develop scalable, reusable rules and components to improve delivery speed and consistency.
- Performance & Quality: Optimize applications for performance, maintainability, and scalability; conduct peer reviews and testing to ensure reliability.
- Module Implementation: Configure Pega Customer Service and Pega Decisioning components where applicable.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other developers, architects, and business analysts to ensure requirements are met.
- Agile Delivery: Participate in agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, and sprint planning to meet delivery timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 3+ years Pega application development, with CSSA or CSA certification preferred.
- Experience with Pega 8.x+, including App Studio, Dev Studio, and Admin Studio.
- Knowledge of Pega integration patterns (REST, SOAP, MQ, file, database).
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Self-driven, flexible, and innovative.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field
- 3–5+ years hands-on Pega development (Pega 8.x preferred) delivering complex workflows and integrations.
- Pega Certified Senior System Architect (CSSA) or higher (CLSA preferred).
- Strong experience in Pega integration patterns, APIs, and data management.
- Expertise in Pega performance tuning, guardrails, and maintainability best practices.
- Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a case-by-case basis.
Education/Experience Preferred:
- 5+ years of Pega application development experience with Pega 8.x or newer.
- Pega CLSA certification.
- Experience with Pega Cloud or Azure-based deployments.
- Background in enterprise workflow automation.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Current or previous Microsoft Certifications (including the now-retired MCSD or MCPD certifications)
