Cambio Consulting Group is seeking a Database Administrator with a strong background in major database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) in an AWS cloud environment supporting mission critical data services. This role requires a technically adept, self-motivated expert who understands the complexities of SQL, databases, security principles, and FISMA compliance.

This is on-site in Washington, D.C.

The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the following tasks:

Database Operations and Maintenance

• Perform scheduled maintenance including backups, patches, updates, and performance optimization.
• Monitor database performance, resolve bottlenecks, and automate routine tasks using scripts.
• Maintain database documentation and participate in change management processes.
• Conduct regular data integrity checks and basic capacity planning.

Security and Compliance

• Implement database security policies, manage user access controls, and conduct vulnerability assessments.
• Maintain FISMA compliance including but not limited to encryption, access logging, and audit trails.
• Support security audits by providing documentation, reports, and remediation of findings.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational standards.

Backup and Support

• Design, implement, and test backup/recovery procedures with documented RTO/RPO objectives.
• Provide incident response and coordinate with vendors during database issues.
• Support application teams with database troubleshooting and optimization.
• Support end user access to databases by managing group permissions and promptly troubleshooting user access issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-4 years of Federal Experience
• 4-5+ years hands-on experience with major database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) in an AWS cloud environment.
• Proficiency in SQL, database tuning, and performance optimization techniques.
• Experience with backup/recovery procedures, high availability configurations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Knowledge of database monitoring tools and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with scheduling and job management in database environments.
• Understanding of database security principles, encryption methods, and access control frameworks.
• FISMA compliance experience or familiarity with federal security standards.
• Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools and remediation processes.
• Experience with audit preparation and security documentation.
• Experience supporting application development teams and troubleshooting database issues.
• Background in change management processes and documentation standards.
• Incident response experience with vendor coordination capabilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, or related field.
• Relevant Certifications related to Database Administration: ex. AWS Certified Database, Microsoft Certified (Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server certifications), CISSP or Security+, CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), PostgreSQL certifications, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, and/or CompTIA Security+

Pay: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
