Job description

Objectives:
This position will oversee the ongoing operations and development of the Information Technologies Department of District Council 37, the Health and Security Plan, the Benefits Fund Trust and the Education Fund. The Director will manage the staff in their efforts to support the effective deployment of new technology, the continued support of existing applications, and the daily operations of the computer infrastructure. The Director will provide strategic direction for the department ensuring that the efforts continually support the goals of District Council 37 and its Affiliated Funds.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct and work closely with the Associate Director, Managers and Supervisors within the Information Technology department to improve the infrastructure and organizational staffing in support of DC37 goals.
  • Ensure that daily operations continue in an efficient and consistent manner.
  • Manage and develop policy and standards for the organization.
  • Develop strategy as it relates to the organization's IT infrastructure (computer, information systems, security, communication and audio-visual systems).
  • Consult senior management across the entire organization to identify business and technology needs to properly optimize the use of information technology.
  • Work with Senior Management to establish budgets and forecasts incorporating short-term and long-term technology investments.
  • Provide administrative oversight of the budget and expenses of the IT department.
  • Assist with the development of an equitable and auditable allocation process for IT departmental expenses across DC37 and its Affiliated Funds.
  • Assist IT Managers in the development of their management and technical skills.
  • Maintain the IT Organization through proper hiring, placement, appraisal, discipline, and delegation of authority.
  • Ensure compliance with all information security protections for DC37 and its Affiliated Funds in accordance with federal, HIPPA and state privacy and security laws.

Education:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the Computer Sciences or at least 15 years of relevant experience in Information Technology.

Experience and Qualifications:

The qualified candidate will have experience managing computer operations, preparing budgets, financial reports and handling various personnel issues.

The candidate should have experience planning and deploying large-scale IT projects. The candidate should have a strong understanding of computer systems, security, privacy (including HIPPA), network and systems administration, database, data storage systems, telecommunications and audio-visual systems.

The candidate should possess excellent organizational, leadership and communications skills.

Pay: $200,000.00 - $205,000.00 per year
