Senior Product Designer (Contract)

Hybrid (Columbus, OH Preferred) / Remote Considered

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to support a feature-focused product team within our UX organization. This role is well-suited for a highly autonomous designer who can operate with minimal oversight, contribute immediately, and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional Agile environment.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong design thinking, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality UX/UI solutions across native mobile and mobile-first web experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate professionally with cross-functional partners, including product owners, business analysts, engineers, and fellow designers.
• Work closely with front-end development teams to create functional, engaging, and scalable product experiences.
• Clearly communicate design direction, principles, and specifications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Design Execution & Problem Solving

• Develop and apply structured design processes to solve complex product challenges.
• Leverage industry best practices while introducing thoughtful, innovative solutions when appropriate.
• Create experience maps, user journeys, scenarios, and interaction flows.
• Design end-to-end user experiences, from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity visual designs and prototypes.
• Produce rapid prototypes to validate concepts and support design decision-making.
• Provide constructive feedback and design guidance to peers.

Presentation & Stakeholder Engagement

• Present design work to cross-functional teams and leadership with clarity and confidence.
• Articulate design rationale, trade-offs, and user-centered decision-making.

Agile Product Development

• Execute design practices within an Agile software development environment.
• Partner with Product Owners and Business Analysts to build and refine product backlogs.
• Contribute to requirements definition and user story creation.
• Balance user needs with business goals in all design solutions.

Qualifications

Experience & Expertise

• 5–7+ years of hands-on experience designing digital product experiences (UX/UI).
• Demonstrated experience shipping multiple products or major features.
• Prior experience working as an embedded designer within a cross-functional product team.
• Strong command of both interaction design and visual design (UX and UI required).
• Regular, hands-on experience working with design systems.

• Ability to document and clearly explain design decisions.
• Confidence presenting to both small and large groups.
• Strong relationship-building skills with peers and stakeholders.
• High degree of accountability, dependability, and consistency in a remote or hybrid environment.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Bonus Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or front-end frameworks.
• Experience designing native mobile applications.
• Ecommerce product experience.
• Familiarity with design research methodologies and usability testing.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $61.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Columbus, OH 43230
