Web Developer/Designer
the workplace
Temporary | Part-time | Full-time
Rockford, IL
Job description
Who We Are
We’re a team that thrives on curiosity, collaboration, and building cool things that actually work. Our mission? Help businesses look good online while keeping their digital engines running smoothly. We value creativity, problem-solving, and people who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and figure things out.
The Role
As our Web Developer, you’ll be the go-to person for turning ideas into functioning websites and digital experiences. One day you might be fine-tuning site performance, the next you’re setting up a tracking pixel, and the next you’re troubleshooting why something looks “weird” on a client’s phone. If you like variety, this role has plenty of it.
You’ll Work Closely With
- Our design crew (they make things look good, you make them work)
- Marketing teammates (who love acronyms like SEO, CRM, and CTA)
- Content folks (who insist “just one more tweak” makes all the difference)
- Leadership (who care about results, not how many lines of code you wrote)
Where You’ll Work
Mostly hybrid: part of the week in-office, part remote. Some occasional travel if projects call for it.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain websites using the usual suspects: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and WordPress.
- Create landing pages that load fast, look sharp, and convert.
- Keep sites user-friendly, mobile-ready, and search-engine happy.
- Manage the behind-the-scenes stuff like hosting, domains, and SSL certificates.
- Hook up analytics, tracking codes, and integrations with third-party tools.
- Troubleshoot issues that pop up across different browsers and devices (yes, even that one client still using IE11).
- Share updates with the team so no one’s left guessing where things stand.
What We’re Looking For
- Solid experience building and maintaining websites (WordPress a must).
- A mix of front-end and back-end skills — you don’t have to know every language, but you’re not afraid to learn.
- Understanding of digital marketing basics and how websites fit into the bigger picture.
- Clear communication skills (you can explain tech stuff without making it sound like rocket science).
- Organized, dependable, and able to juggle multiple projects without losing your cool.
- A curious, creative problem-solver who enjoys figuring out how things work.
How You’ll Know You’re Succeeding
- Projects launch on time, clients are happy, and things run smoothly.
- Teammates trust you to own your work and deliver.
- You’re not just keeping sites alive — you’re helping them thrive.
- You stay curious, keep learning, and bring new ideas to the table.
