We’re Alia, a NYC-based startup powering smart popups for 1000+ e-commerce brands including Nike Strength, Aviator Nation, and Hot Ones.

Despite taking $0 in venture capital, we’re highly profitable and one of the fastest growing SaaS companies in e-commerce right now. As we add more and more household names to our customer roster, we’re looking for an expert to help us scale our cloud infrastructure to meet demand.

You’ll be joining a team of 2 engineers and 10 other employees, and working right next to the CTO to shape our infrastructure for the next few years. This is a fast-paced, scrappy startup environment where everyone has high agency, extreme ownership, and obsesses over outcomes.

What you’ll do

You'll be our infrastructure owner, focusing primarily on performance and scaling of our Postgres database, while also managing our broader cloud infrastructure needs on GCP (Cloud Run, BigQuery, BigTable, etc).

Key responsibilities:

• Proactive infrastructure management - set up monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning to catch issues before they impact customers
• Database optimization & scaling - monitor performance, optimize queries, plan for growth, implement replication strategies
• Cloud infrastructure - manage and optimize our cloud setup
• CI/CD & deployment - improve our development and deployment workflows

Who you are

• High agency with a strong bias for action
• 3+ years infrastructure/DevOps experience at scaling startups
• Deep relational database expertise, preferably with Postgres (performance tuning, scaling strategies, monitoring)
• Self-directed and opinionated about long-term architectural decisions

Remote work

We’re open to remote work for the right candidate, but we strongly prefer in-person in our NYC office. We spend most of our time during the week in person because we love what we do and love working (and hanging out) with each other.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
