Database Migration Specialist (FileMaker Server → FileMaker Cloud) Austin | Contract | Immediate Start
We’re seeking an experienced Database Migration Specialist to lead a short-term project focused on modernizing a legacy FileMaker environment. The role involves restoring admin access to an existing FileMaker Server v13 installation, creating secure backups, and migrating the database to FileMaker Cloud.
This is a hands-on technical role ideal for someone who has managed FileMaker migrations end-to-end and enjoys tackling legacy access or configuration challenges.
What You’ll Do
You’ll oversee the project through three key phases:
1. Access Recovery & Backup
- Regain administrative-level access to an existing FileMaker Server v13 environment.
- Create new administrator credentials.
- Generate and validate two full database backups.
2. Cloud Environment Setup
- Build a new FileMaker Cloud database replicating the structure and schema of the on-premise system.
- Confirm all fields, relationships, and functions align with the legacy setup.
3. Data Migration & Validation
- Migrate the on-premise FileMaker database to FileMaker Cloud.
- Verify that all records and data fields have successfully transferred.
- Perform integrity testing on a large sample of records to confirm accuracy and functionality.
Deliverables
- Functional admin credentials for FileMaker Server.
- Two complete backup copies of the on-premise database.
- Fully configured and populated FileMaker Cloud database.
- Validation report confirming successful data migration and record accuracy.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience working with Claris FileMaker Server and FileMaker Cloud.
- Must have experience in recovering administrative access to FileMaker Server v13 or a similar on-premise FileMaker Server version, experience in preparing and successfully transferring an on-premise FileMaker database to FileMaker Cloud, and experience in working with the Claris cloud platform.
- Proven success recovering admin access and performing migrations from on-premise to cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of FileMaker schema design, data integrity testing, and backup strategy.
- Detail-oriented approach with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results on time.
