Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer / Architect to provide advanced leadership, architecture, and operational support for the City’s mission-critical enterprise network infrastructure.
This role will temporarily fill a key leadership gap and requires a highly experienced, hands-on technical expert with deep expertise in Juniper (MX, EX, QFX, SRX) and Palo Alto Networks (NGFW) technologies. The ideal candidate has strong service provider or large enterprise experience supporting complex routing environments, MPLS cores, VoIP, and high-volume IP Video Surveillance (IPVS) systems.
This is an onsite position in Philadelphia.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and deploy highly available WAN, LAN, and Data Center networks using Juniper MX, EX/QFX, and SRX platforms
- Design and maintain MPLS core architecture (L2/L3 VPNs, LDP, RSVP-TE, Traffic Engineering)
- Implement and optimize advanced BGP routing policies (multi-homed internet, inter-AS routing, path manipulation)
- Configure and manage Palo Alto Networks NGFWs, including Panorama, App-ID, Content-ID, NAT, VPNs, and WildFire
- Design and enforce QoS policies to ensure optimal VoIP and IP video performance
- Architect and support network infrastructure for IP Video Surveillance (IPVS) systems, including high-resolution camera traffic (H.264/H.265)
- Perform network capacity planning and traffic analysis
- Design VLAN segmentation and secure network zoning strategies
- Implement and support 802.1x authentication
- Provide Tier 3/4 escalation support for complex incidents
- Utilize packet capture and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark) for troubleshooting
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive network engineering experience
- 3+ years in a Senior/Lead/Architect-level role
- Deep hands-on experience with Juniper Junos OS (MX routers, EX/QFX switches, SRX firewalls)
- Expert-level knowledge of BGP (route filtering, peering, path manipulation)
- Extensive experience designing and operating MPLS networks (LDP, RSVP-TE, L2/L3 VPNs)
- Proven expertise with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including Panorama
- Strong experience supporting real-time traffic environments, including VoIP and IP Video with QoS
- Experience with large-scale enterprise or service provider environments
Assignment Details
- Duration: 6 Months (Potential Extension)
- Schedule: Full-time, standard business hours
- Location: 100% Onsite – Philadelphia, PA

Pay: $75.00 - $95.00 per hour
