Senior Software Development and Technical Services Manager

This position is located in Phoenix, AZ and requires on-site work.

The Sr. Software Development and Technical Services Manager is a key management role responsible for leading software development, project management, professional services, and technical support to drive new product development, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. In addition, this role provides local leadership and guidance for the IT team.

This role will lead cross-functional teams, implement best practices, and ensure the successful execution of technical initiatives that support business growth and innovation. This individual will also promote and support AB&R’s core values (Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Integrity, Fun) through the performance of assigned duties and their professional conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for software development, project management, professional services, and technical support.
  • Provide leadership for site specific IT & Infrastructure needs and drive alignment with corporate initiatives and systems.
  • Prioritize, lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Align technical services with business objectives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and performance metrics for all technical departments.

Software Development:

  • Lead software development team(s) in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and secure solutions.
  • Implement Agile methodologies, Scrum and DevOps best practices to enhance efficiency and product delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define product roadmaps, features, and integration strategies.

Project & Professional Services Management:

  • Oversee project management frameworks, ensuring timely delivery of technical projects within scope and budget.
  • Manage professional services engagements, including site surveys, implementation, training, and customer onboarding.
  • Establish KPIs and SLAs to measure project success and customer satisfaction.

Technical Support & Customer Experience:

  • Lead the configuration and technical support team to provide high-quality, customer-focused support services.
  • Implement tiered support processes, ticketing systems, and escalation protocols to improve response times and resolution rates.
  • Analyze customer feedback and technical issues to drive continuous improvement and product enhancements.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical leadership roles, managing IT, software development, and technical services.
  • Experience managing professional services, project delivery, and technical support operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms.
  • Background in IT infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software development methodologies is desirable.
  • Experience with enterprise systems, SaaS solutions, databases, data management and emerging technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with, or working knowledge of Automatic Identification / Data Collection, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Asset tracking solutions in the industrial, utilities, warehousing and distribution space would be advantageous in this role.
