JOB DESCRIPTION

The Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission is to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends from missile attacks in all phases of flight. These positions will support the MDA in its mission by providing critical flight and ground test support. To that end, the system administrator team ensures continuous, secure, and optimal performance of our information technology services. This entails component / system maintenance, trade studies, modernization, system configuration, integration and test, and maintaining system documentation.

We currently have full-time entry and junior-level system administrator positions available. These positions are based out of Huntsville, AL with travel opportunities both within the US and internationally.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal applicant should have a B.S. Degree in a STEM-related field from an accredited institution, although number of years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment. The candidate must have a valid driver's license and must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance up to the Secret level within 3 months of hire.

The following skills are required for day-to-day operations in this position:

  • In depth knowledge of IT systems (servers, workstations, virtual machines), configuration and management supporting Microsoft Windows operating system (OS)
  • Experience with User Administration, maintaining user access and authentication to include user account management and two-factor authentication services
  • Experience with routine System Maintenance and troubleshooting to include component level repair or replacement of CPU motherboards, system memory and media (SSD, SATA, eSATA)
  • Experience with testing and management of application and OS security updates and patching (e.g., Windows Server Update Services) addressing Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) alerts and bulletins
  • Experience with managing Domain services (centralized accounting, auditing, authentication) and implementing Group Policies in accordance with Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for both server and virtual machine (VM) architectures
  • Knowledge and experience with Cybersecurity auditing, continuous monitoring and analysis tools (HBSS, ACAS, NESSUS, SYSLOG)
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent Cybersecurity IT level certification (may obtain after hire)
  • Strong analytical skills with good interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with multiple government and contractor organizations
  • Ability to travel occasionally

The following skills are desired but not required for this position:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or equivalent certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio for maintaining system documentation and diagrams
  • Knowledge of the DOD Risk Management Framework (RMF) certification and accreditation process
