Job description

dbITpro is currently hiring for a Systems Administrator that will provide hands-on support to a development team by establishing and maintaining smooth operation of computer systems (to include operating systems, software, and hardware) in networked or stand-alone configurations, maintaining system integrity, and upgrading systems and/or servers as required. The environment is dynamic, and client needs are often evolving; flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success. This role is a fully remote position within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an AWS GovCloud hosting service with a collection of capabilities, tools, and services to provide a modern automated DevSecOps environment.
  • Expertise in one or more operating systems and is responsible for support functions such as planning, deploying, maintaining, supporting servers such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Windows, databases, and backup systems.
  • Assist with restorations, application installation, testing, Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Analyze and fixes performance issues related to networking and OS and provides application upgrades.
  • Responsible for configuration management, monitoring, and maintenance of all hosted servers.
  • Consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff in the resolution of problems, coordinates and performs operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers, identifies recurring problems and recommends steps to reduce the severity or frequency of problems.
  • Writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Must have Cloud Computing experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
  • Experience with ECS (Elastic Container Services).
  • Familiar with Jenkins (or another development tools) and deploying environments.
  • Maintain environments, apply patches, and keep environments in compliance with VA Technical Reference Model (TRM).
  • Experience with Dyno trace reporting tool to configure, conduct monitoring and run reports.
  • Familiar with major operating systems like Windows especially RedHat Linux.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) to relay concise messaging and reporting to all levels of management.
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with minimal guidance/supervision.
  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiar with DevSecOps and agile IT development
  • Experience supporting or leading within the Veterans Affairs Office of Information and Technology, Veterans Benefits Administration, and/or Veterans Health Administration is a plus.
  • Ability to proactively communicate and coordinate with various internal and external project stakeholders, depending on needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
