Position Summary

ACGT has an open position for a software developer at our Wheeling, Illinois headquarters and laboratory. The software developer is responsible for modifying and packaging our in-house laboratory information management system (LIMS). As ACGT is a small, family-owned company, IT duties will be required of the qualified candidate, training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will be able to understand and support application development, system integration and documentation, and possess an expertise and/or familiarity in Java, Java Script, HTML, WordPress, Visual C#, React.js, Node.js, MySQL, SQL Server and other scripting languages, on both Linux and Microsoft platforms.

Responsibilities

• Modifying, planning, gathering requirements, customizing, testing, implementing, and maintaining, software systems written in different programming languages and databases.
• IT responsibilities including desktop support and server maintenance.
• Integrate systems across multiple platforms and technologies.
• Integrate new functionality into existing applications.
• Use performance monitoring and capacity planning tools to ensure that systems are performing effectively.
• Setup testing environment before put up to production.
• Produce and maintains technical documentation.
• Design procedures for testing existing software.
• Monitor and correct problems with production systems.
• Ability to work independently.
• Possesses a high degree of accountability of your work.
• Creates technical diagrams to support the new/existing coding.

Educational Requirements and Experience

• B.S. degree, Computer Science preferred but not required.
• At least 2 years of experience in software development.

Required Skills

• Modify and write programs for efficient existing business applications.
• Write systems and programming documentation.
• Match flow chart with existing coding.
• Identify and solve problems in programs and production systems.
• Follow oral and written instructions and understand complex written procedures, technical manuals and operations documentation
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships and customer service.
• Organize and prioritize work, set priorities to meet deadlines, and work within prescribed time constraints.
• Work effectively and maintain efficiency under minimal daily supervision.
• Proficient with following program languages: in Java, Java Script, HTML, WordPress, PHP, Visual C#, React.js, Node.js, MySQL, SQL Server.
• Proficient in Linux and Microsoft platforms.
• Must work well in a team environment.
• Familiar with packaging software.
