Job Title: Assistant Cook/Dishwasher

Location: Minnehaha Elementary School

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule: 4 days per week during school year, approximately 4 hours per day

Overview:

Minnehaha Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and efficient Assistant Cook/Dishwasher to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting our food service operations, ensuring that students enjoy nutritious and delicious meals in a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of daily school meals under the guidance of the head cook.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, equipment, and dining areas to meet health and safety standards.
• Operate dishwashing equipment, ensuring all dishes, utensils, and cookware are hygienically cleaned and organized.
• Assist with the receiving and storage of food supplies, ensuring proper rotation and storage.
• Help in maintaining inventory and ensuring that the necessary kitchen supplies are always available.
• Comply with all school policies and procedures related to food safety and worker safety.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down the serving areas, and ensure that waste is properly disposed of.
• Engage in the school community with professionalism and respect for students, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a kitchen or food service setting is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety standards.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a background check.

Compensation:

• Hourly wage of $16.32/hour
• Participation in district-wide training and professional development opportunities.
