Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to provide expert database management for complex enterprise environments. In this role, you will ensure database performance, security, and availability for Oracle databases supporting mission-critical Federal systems. You will apply advanced knowledge of Oracle architecture, SQL, and PL/SQL to optimize performance, safeguard data, and maintain compliance with stringent DoD security requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle databases to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Design and manage Oracle table structures, indexes, and partitioning to maximize efficiency.
- Perform database patching, upgrades, and migrations in compliance with DoD and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL and PL/SQL code.
- Implement database security measures to meet DoD compliance requirements.
- Provide database documentation, standards, and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- CompTIA Security+ CE Certification (active).
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Extensive experience with Oracle database administration in enterprise environments.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL programming skills.
- Expertise in backup and recovery strategies, including RMAN.
- Knowledge of Oracle table structure, indexing, and query optimization.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Oracle Certification (e.g., OCP, OCM).
- Experience supporting DoD environments and working onsite at the Pentagon.
- Knowledge of enterprise system architecture and security best practices.
- Familiarity with Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and Oracle EPM solutions.
