Role Overview
eNGINE is seeking two senior-level Oracle Database Administrator with Azure experience to support a government-aligned division within a highly regulated enterprise environment. This role is heavily operational, with a primary focus on production support, system reliability, and database performance across Oracle environments hosted in Microsoft Azure.
The majority of the work will center around ongoing administration, optimization, and resiliency efforts, with limited involvement in architectural design initiatives. Candidates should bring deep experience supporting Oracle 19c and newer versions in enterprise environments and demonstrate strong working knowledge of Azure infrastructure and security best practices.
Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize Oracle database platforms (19c and higher) deployed within Azure-based environments
- Maintain high availability and performance across production systems through proactive tuning and issue resolution
- Execute database patching, version upgrades, and lifecycle management activities
- Support backup, recovery, and replication strategies using enterprise-grade Oracle tools
- Strengthen database security controls, including role governance and access management
- Partner with security and operations teams to ensure compliance, logging, and audit preparedness
- Monitor system health, capacity trends, and performance metrics to prevent service degradation
- Contribute to resiliency strategies including replication and disaster recovery configurations
- Develop and maintain operational documentation and maintenance records
- Create and maintain shell scripts to streamline administrative and monitoring tasks
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environments
- Strong expertise supporting Oracle 19c or newer versions
- Experience managing Oracle workloads within Microsoft Azure
- Demonstrated background in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production support
- Proficiency with backup and recovery strategies, including RMAN and replication technologies
- Experience implementing database security controls and privilege management best practices
- Working knowledge of scripting (Shell) for automation and administrative efficiency
- Ability to support structured maintenance windows, including off-hours and occasional weekend work
- Strong written documentation skills and cross-team communication abilities
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and standard enterprise background checks
Preferred Experience
- Azure certification with hands-on cloud database administration experience
- Familiarity with advanced Oracle security tools and monitoring platforms
- Experience supporting government or highly regulated environments
- Exposure to enterprise monitoring, logging integrations, and audit workflows
- Background contributing to disaster recovery or active-active replication architectures
