Job description

MSP Engineer – Client Onboarding, Migration & Infrastructure

Location: Brick, NJ
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Starting at $125,000 base + performance incentives

About the Role

We provide end-to-end IT services as a Managed Service Provider (MSP), specializing in cloud solutions, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, and client migrations. Our work is high-trust, detail-driven, and essential to ensuring seamless business operations for our clients.

We are seeking a seasoned MSP Engineer with proven experience in client onboarding, infrastructure setup, and tenant migrations. The ideal candidate has successfully executed full-scale client transitions, understands the risks of live cutovers, and has the technical foresight to ensure smooth, disruption-free migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle client migrations from existing MSPs
  • Architect and deploy Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure AD, and Office environments
  • Audit infrastructures and design migration roadmaps
  • Execute domain transfers, licensing transitions, and identity federation
  • Conduct site surveys to assess environments prior to migration
  • Follow structured onboarding workflows and refine documentation
  • Partner with operations and support staff to meet project deadlines
  • Own technical escalations and post-migration stabilization
  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate client scheduling needs

Required Experience

  • 3–5+ years in MSP environments, with direct migration experience (must-have)
  • Successful track record migrating clients between MSPs
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure AD, and Exchange Online
  • PowerShell scripting for automation and diagnostics
  • Familiarity with Ubiquiti networking hardware and configuration
  • Experience with PSA/RMM (e.g., Syncro, SuperOps), Hudu (documentation), and Pax8 (licensing)
  • Strong client communication and documentation skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically for site assessments
  • Security-first mindset (MFA, conditional access, compliance policies)
  • Comfort with hybrid environments (on-prem AD + cloud)

Bonus Skills

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or M365 Enterprise Admin
  • Familiarity with ConnectWise, Autotask, or Visio
  • Broader scripting/automation skills

Why This Role Matters

As an MSP Engineer, you will be at the forefront of client transitions—leading migrations, stabilizing environments, and ensuring that businesses operate seamlessly through critical IT changes. This role demands technical precision, foresight, and client-facing excellence.
