Job description

Marathon TS is seeking a Network Administrator to join a team of IT experts to support a federal client. As a key member of our network engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing complex network architectures that meet the organization's needs for performance, scalability, and security. You will also lead efforts to investigate and resolve critical network incidents in a timely manner, implement and manage network security measures, and coordinate with vendors and service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and manage complex network architectures that meet the organization's needs for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Ensure that network infrastructure complies with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FISMA, FEDRAMP, NIST 800-53, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Create detailed network diagrams and documentation to support network design and implementation.
  • Monitor network performance using various tools and methodologies to identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
  • Lead efforts to investigate and resolve critical network incidents in a timely manner.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Plan for future network capacity needs based on growth projections and current performance trends.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Prepare and present reports on network performance, incidents, and improvements to management and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in network engineering and integrate them into network operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within network operations.
  • Propose and implement solutions to enhance network efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior network engineers and IT staff, assisting with their professional development.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of network engineering principles and practices, including routing, switching, firewall configuration, and VPN setup.
  • Experience with network management tools and methodologies, such as SNMP, NMP, and network monitoring software.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex network issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and execute on a day to day basis, while employing a hands on approach.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $135,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
