WOOD YARD ASSOCIATE

Reports To: Production Manager

Location: Crivitz, WI

Position Overview: The Wood Yard Associate will actively support the continued growth of Omnia Wood Products LLC by collaborating with the team to ensure efficient and safe production of all Smokey Woods Product Offerings.

Position is eligible for 9 Paid Holidays and an additional 10 Days Paid Time Off for the 1st Year (prorated based upon start date in calendar year)

Responsibilities:

• Assist in workspace and equipment set up and shut down
• Load live deck during cutting operations to ensure consistent and efficient flow of materials
• Monitor materials for quality
• Operate splitting machine, tumbler, chip screen and other equipment as required
• Manage chip and chunk material flow including loading, unloading and basket replacement
• Assist with wood log boilers and kiln operations
• Perform regularly schedule maintenance and report equipment issues to Supervisor
• Assist with yard organization, clean-up. Keep work areas free from all debris.
• Learn and maintain proper yard planning for raw material and product storage
• Safety as highest priority while working in cutting, warehouse and wood yard

Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking on concrete while working both inside and outside
• Repeated bending and twisting for duration of shift
• Ambient air temperature fluctuations from cold to hot and humid
• Noise level ranges from medium to high

Skills & Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to safely operate forklift and other yard and warehouse equipment
• Use of logic and reasoning in decision making and problem solving
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Education & Experience:

• 3 years’ experience in production environment preferred
• 1 year experience using a chainsaw and log bucking and preparation a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent education, experience, or training
• Forklift certification is a plus, or willing to obtain within 90 days

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
