Nysus Solutions LLC is looking for a SQL Database Administrator to add to our team. We are located in Maumee, OH with clients throughout the US and abroad in a variety of manufacturing environments. This position requires individuals to be self-starters with strong organizational and communication skills. The SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for managing, supporting, and optimizing the company’s and our customer’s MS SQL Server databases ensuring their integrity, availability, and security. This role requires strong technical skills, a deep understanding of MS SQL Server, and experience with database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting.

Job Description for SQL Database Administrator

This position reports directly to the Customer Support Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of Nysus Solutions as described below:

  • Attending all pertinent scheduled meetings that are planned to help troubleshoot, plan, and execute internal and external needs.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server instances and databases.
  • Facilitate regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor database performance and implement optimizations to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, identify bottlenecks, and resolve performance problems.
  • Ensure data integrity and security by implementing and maintaining appropriate access controls and encryption measures.
  • Implement disaster recovery and backup solutions to prevent data loss.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas and queries.
  • Conduct database upgrades, patching, and version management to ensure systems are up to date.
  • Analyze and optimize database queries to improve performance.
  • Provide technical support for database-related issues and assist in troubleshooting production problems.
  • Maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Stay current with MS SQL Server technologies and best practices.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

MCDBA or Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator Associate certification preferred (not required).

Microsoft SQL Server Certification preferred (e.g., MCSA, MSCE or equivalent).

Related Work Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer or similar role with a strong background in MS SQL Server administration, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server administration (versions 2012 and above).
  • Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex database performance issues.
  • Software development skills preferred, including the ability to work with application code, stored procedures, and database driven applications.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing T-SQL queries.
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) required.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.) is a plus.
  • Local candidates preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
