Job description
Odyssey is working with a Texas-based home building company to find an experienced Solutions Architect. This is a contract position located in Plano, TX.
Objective
The Solutions Architect plays a critical role in leading the organization’s digital transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for guiding internal and external stakeholders through the migration from legacy systems to modern, cloud-based IT environments. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical thought leader, providing architectural expertise, strategic guidance, and hands-on support for software design, system integration, and cloud enablement.
Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Strategy
- Design cloud-native solutions to address complex business and technical challenges.
- Define and communicate architectural strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both current needs and future scalability.
- Ensure technical documentation is created and maintained for all applications.
- Design systems based on best practices, including the Well-Architected Framework.
- Develop integration solutions between critical business systems.
- Produce architectural documentation that outlines technical decisions and rationale.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Application Development
- Apply a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Conduct architecture and code reviews to maintain quality standards.
- Build proof-of-concept solutions to demonstrate viability and direction.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to software development teams.
- Champion new technologies and maintain awareness of emerging trends.
- Actively manage and reduce technical debt across systems.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and coach team members, promoting professional growth and skills development.
- Encourage and support adoption of the Well-Architected Framework across teams.
Security & Compliance
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to build and maintain a secure infrastructure.
- Ensure all solutions align with internal and external security requirements.
Vendor & Partner Engagement
- Manage relationships with technology partners and vendors to deliver effective solutions.
- Evaluate third-party solutions and integrations in line with enterprise standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the IT organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent experience (7+ years) will be considered.
- Proven experience in agile methodologies and DevOps practices for modern software development and deployment.
- Strong technical leadership and change management capabilities in a dynamic environment.
- Expertise in Microsoft Azure platforms, including data storage, processing, analytics, and security.
- Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal.
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term architectural goals.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $75.00 - $90.00 per hour
